Brian Souter, the multi-millionaire owner of Stagecoach, has ordered his teenage son to attend anger management and alcohol counselling sessions, a court heard yesterday.
Scott Souter, appearing at Perth Sheriff Court, admitted chasing in a car after a stranger who verbally abused his father at a drunken party, forcing him to stop and then punching him around the head.
The court was told that in the drunken incident last August the 18-year-old rounded up several friends to pursue Philip Johnston, 20, as he drove away from the party. Mr Johnston was pulled over on a quiet road and attacked as he sat behind the wheel.
Paul McBride, QC, representing Mr Souter, argued for his client to be let off without punishment but his plea was rejected by Sheriff Michael Fletcher. Mr Souter, who admitted leaving his victim battered and bruised, was fined £200 and ordered to pay £400 compensation to Mr Johnston.
